Andrew J Ross, MD

Obstetrics and Gynecology
Dr. Andrew Ross is a native of New York City and has moved steadily west with no intention of ever going back. His undergraduate education was at the University of Michigan in Biological Anthropology. After a brief career in sports marketing, he returned to school at Hunter College -The City University of New York to complete a post-baccalaureate pre-med program, and completed medical school at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia in 2000, and has lived in Denver, practicing with this group ever since. Dr. Ross has been at the forefront of minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, doing laparoscopic hysterectomies since the 1990's, and is certified in the Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery by the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons. He is the first gynecologist in the state of Colorado to have done a single incision laparoscopic hysterectomy, is skilled with the da Vinci® Robotic Surgical System, and has proctored new da Vinci® gynecologic surgeons at Swedish Medical Center, as well as other hospitals locally and nationally. His professional surgical goal is to never do an abdominal hysterectomy. These same surgical abilities translate to obstetrics skills with forceps, which are rarely found these days, contributing to a low C-section rate. Despite these manual skills, Dr. Ross is most proud of his abilities to communicate with his patients in a way that allows them to feel that their desires and concerns are an integral part of their treatment plans. Personally, Dr. Ross enjoys all of the outdoor activities Colorado offers. He is an avid mountain and road cyclist, and enjoys snowboarding when the opportunity arises. He enjoys cooking for his wife and son, particularly with vegetables he grows in his own garden. Dr. Ross is on the boards of local organizations committed to advancing the art and science of medicine, and access to reproductive healthcare.
